Heyyy! I’m Jacobo — director and founder of CHINO.
I love running, coffee, films, and music. My favorite film is Oslo, August 31st by Joachim Trier.
When I was 13, I picked up my dad’s old camera and started filming — it’s been the longest love story of my life. Cinema and memory are my obsessions.
My work moves between fiction, music, and advertising — where story and emotion collide.
I’ve directed music videos for artists like Zuco and Rafatrujillo, fashion films for brands like Tutantú and Alacrán, and commercials for Spotify and Kia. I created the short documentary series Chasing the Music Vibe — exploring the heartbeat behind the music, and what truly drives artists like Juan Duque, NSQK, Green Day, and Rusowski.
I’ve been awarded Colombia’s Fondo para el Desarrollo Cinematográfico (FDC) twice — for Umbral (2019) and Cómo Limpiar un Espejo (2023), the projects I’m proudest of and the ones that most define my voice as a filmmaker.
I'm interested in exploring youth, silence, and the cracks that shape who we become. They say “write about what you know” and hey, I’m still young (28 is still young right?).
I’m now developing Cuidar al Perro Viejo, my third short film — a story about two brothers caught between resentment and love, trying to care for each other when it no longer feels easy.
Hit me up. Let’s create something that feels alive.
